Ciao Bella
Last November, a few of us girlies took Angela out to Donna Carmela to celebrate her birthday.
It was a small and intimate affair and it was lovely to see that she loved her gifts and we all have a really nice evening catching up and talking girl things.
Funny how we're all of varying ages... if you think about it!

All that Loef-Ness
Mel and I are big fans of simple and classic, i.e. Not too expensive things that can be mixed and matched in all sorts of different ways.
It's probably why we're big fans of the simple and very affordable Loef.
Last night, a bunch of us met up for dinner to celebrate Chancho's birthday and we realized that we were both wearing lots of it. So we decided to get a picture together... tummies full and all.

Funny!
My favourite time of day
A friend of mine recently wrote about her favourite time of day and this made me think about my own.
In the past, my favourite time of day would really depend on when I finished a good workout. It would be the moment of celebration in the day, when the fat lady sang and I could munch on a well-deserved meal.
These days, my itchy bum has somewhat calmed down and I suppose I'm really not all that much of the adrenalin junkie I once was. So what IS my favourite time of day, I wondered to myself?
I suppose it's when I get home to my two little wagtails - They grin and coo and their bums go a little metronome crazy. I take them downstairs and watch them skip around like they're the happiest pups in the world. It's even more fun when Hubba comes home whilst we're downstairs... When they see him, their eyes light up and they literally leap into his arms.
I guess my favourite time of day is whenever I see my little 12-legged family come together. No matter what my worry is, it usually falls away :)

The Accidental Meme: Girlie Pouch Contents
It all began with Ee-Lyn helping me out the other day.
I was marveling at her girlie pouch preparedness and had decided that I would make it a point to assemble one myself. I passed by a travel shop, spent $9 on a pouch and started narrowing down what I'd need to take with me.
Here is what I now carry with me everywhere:

- Oil blotters -
- Female monthly essentials
- Pocket mirror (for spinach in teeth moments)
- 1GB USB thumb drive
- Double headphone jack
- Combination lock for gym use
- Inhaler
- Multi-tool (for any form of emergency)
- Nokia Bluetooth headset
- Eclat D'arpege mini perfume
- Becca cheek tint
- Lip Ice & Burt's Bees balms
- Lavendar & Orange badger balm (in case of blisters or chafing)
- Body Shop eyeshadow
- Benefit mini eyeliner
- Tweezer
- Painkillers & anti-inflammatories
I'm quite excited about being prepared for any situation now. And it's all thanks to Ee-Lyn too :)
The funny thing is I've told a few friends about this and apparently they ALL already have girlie pouches. So they decided to share their contents too! It's becoming a meme - Haha! Here are Mel's and Faz's.
Some of my other friends have also posted their's on Twitter - We're now at 5 or 6 and counting! Even the dudes are tempted to show us the contents of their manbags. Haha!
Very amused. Although I am getting a lot of grief for carrying a multi-tool around....
Gracie's comment cracked me up:
why in the world do you need a multi-tool in your pouch??? are your eyebrows THAT stubborn?
LOL!
So go on then, what's in your's? (Post it and share your link with me, please!)
Note: Gadgets packed separately.
Tropical Comfort
One of the things I absolutely love about living in the tropics is being able to dress in absolute comfort every single day.
By comfort, I mean clothes that literally hang off you - No fuss, no muss. No need for a lot of buttons or bows.

And they're not painful on the wallet either :)
Coffees & Pseudo Tai-Dom
One of the coolest parts about being a make-believe lady of leisure for two weeks is the absolute ease of popping out for a coffee with friends whenever.
I've tried not to pack the days in so that I get a decent amount of total down-time at home but I must admit, even I can hardly resist the powers of sticky date pudding and fresh coffee on a rainy afternoon.
with Mel & Faz
Boy, am I going to miss this luxury when work starts again on Monday!
The Big Chop
There's something about me and having long and luscious hair - It's near enough impossible. Everytime I get close to putting my hair up in a pony tail, I get the urge to lop it all off.
Today, I did it again.
Back to easy bobbitness again. Hoorah!

The Need for Girl Things
A girlfriend of mine rescued me in a sticky situation today and all because she was well equipped.
In her bag, she carries with her a small pouch with all things a girl might possibly need.
What did I have in my bag?
I emptied its contents and aside from my wallet, keys and lip balm, I had my iPhone, a spare E66, Ixus 100IS, my Mophie juice pack, 2 USB sticks, a pair of Apple headphones and a Nokia Bluetooth headset.
I stared at her. She stared at me. And we laughed.
Time to assemble my own little girlie pouch, she said. Thanks, Ee-lyn!

Country Bumpkin in the City
I've always been a city girl. I grew up as one and I can't help but think I am one.
But every now and then I realize this might be a bit delusional.
It's not like I grew up in a hick town with cows around me - I guess I've always been near enough to the thick of the action. And all of my career before the stripes saw me jostling to get to work with fellow city slickers. I felt terribly disconnected from the world during my two years in Great Malvern but I feel that it did me a world of good to be away. And when it was UCAS time, I immediately looked at several cities which I thought I'd do well in and fortunately got accepted to my first choice at Leeds.
Even in my short working life in London, I found myself right smack in the middle of Bond Street and bunking at a mate's place at the Barbican Centre. Coming home to Singapore, I was always in Shenton Way or somewhere in the vicinity of the Central Business District.
The past two years on the outskirts of town were weird for me. The good part about working in a questionable area was the ability to drive to work, which I realized I didn't like doing. I missed the zone-out time I got whilst riding public transport. I was often frustrated by the unavailability of good coffee joints I could entertain associates at and my inability to do impromptu catch-up lunches with friends. Thank God I had a few great friends in the office whom I never tired of having lunch with - Otherwise, I would have been in big trouble.
Being a little dislocated from the rest of the working world, life went on. I accepted that kopitiams were pretty much an everyday affair and teh si became my staple beverage. The only people I jostled with became the aunties and street promoters outside NTUC at lunchtime. The sights and sounds I saw everyday became comfortable and my special treat to myself during the work week would be Indian take-out from Brinda's. And unbeknownst to me, I was slowly maxing out the heartland.
And the impact only unveiled itself to me last night, when I made my way back into the Central Business District for my first new gym session.
"Let's go to Quiznos," Hubba suggested when we thought about something fairly light for dinner. "Where?" I said. I had never heard of the place in my life. And when I walked into the sandwich cafe and the smells of bread and fresh condiments and coffee hit me, I was bowled over. I ooh-ed. I aah-ed.
And then I thought, OMG. What's happened to me?
So yeah, city girl or not - I'm a total country bumpkin now. I can't wait to start work in the city again and I'm already relishing the thought of a good latte every now and then when I crave it.
Cheap thrill, eh?
To him, you're his world.
