Make new friends,
but keep the old.
One is silver,
the other is gold.
That’s a saying I’ve heard probably a million times since I was a kid. But it’s really only in your adult life that you slowly start to experience the truth in it.
Cands and I became fast friends in boarding school. She was a Day girl and I was a Boarder, so whenever I was on exeat, I would stay with her. And whenever she wanted to bunk over in school, she stayed with me. My boarding school life was full of memories and many were spent with her.
We played fuzzy duck in my room with 3 litres of cider (heh), visited Willows for penny sweeties and did other silly things like that. But then she left school prematurely to pursue other studies and I thought things would change.
Obviously, we tried to keep in touch afterward but alas, the best way up till now has really been just on Facebook.
And now here we are in Sydney. Over 12 years later.
I thought it’d be a bit interesting but we immediately picked up where we’d left off. Don’t you just love when that happens with good mates?
Ahh, the good ol’ days!
