A couple of weekends ago, I finally checked out the Loewen Gardens Farmer’s Market at Dempsey.
If there’s one thing I absolutely love about the Western nations, it is their love for fresh farm-grown produce, gourmet meats and cheeses, as well as their artistry in baking and confectionary. I’d long heard about the Farmer’s Market but never got myself in gear to go so when a couple of the girls decided to ‘time’ a visit together, I couldn’t resist.
It was almost the perfect way to spend the Saturday evening – I say ‘almost’ ‘coz the husband was stuck in school and unable to come with. But my sweet pals Mel and Ran picked me up and took me on the excursion with them. I was so delighted by all the yummy things that were on sale! Obviously I had to reign my sweet tooth in but I ended up buying some incredible cheese and jamon iberico for us to snack on at home.

Oh my goodness, I am salivating just thinking about it. I actually think I still have some of the cheese left and might go snack on it later. Argh. It really doesn’t take much for me to lose it when cheese and cold meats are involved.
So anyway, the Farmer’s Market was great. Ran treated me to pancakes – Lordie, he knows how to spoil a pregnant lady – and I met some Mummy friends whose kids seemed to love the facilities at The Pantry (i.e. slides, swings, a trampoline!). Definitely made me think of the place as a great place to bring the family over the weekend!

I really wish there were more markets like these in Singapore – But then again, I might not be able to contain these sugar cravings if I went so often! Yum!
