They say it’s important to have time to yourself, no matter who you are and what you do.

This has never been more applicable than now that I have become a mother.

You can read a gazillion parenting books and mentally prep yourself all you want. You can think you’re invincible where sleep deprivation is concerned.

But nothing – NOTHING – really prepares you for how you really feel in the first month of parenthood. The days and weeks of sleep deprivation are just so brutal!

And it rages on. I still miss sleeping proper. Of course seeing my little one doing well is reward in itself, but still I have found that having time to myself is just so, so important.

My feet have pounded the pavement four times this week. Twice I managed to steal away during nap time in the week, and another two great workouts this weekend while the husband has been home.

And so far, I always come home a calmer, and much happier wife and mother.

Here’s to me-time.

I’m a new mother too and I totally agree! Did you get some supportive sports bras? I need some recommendations as I find my existing ones not adequately supportive.
