Last Sunday, Naomi was baptized into the Faith.
It was something we really wanted to do as parents for her and is probably something that we’re inadvertently doing for ourselves as Christians too. Dedicating her to Christ and promising to bring her up in a manner that will help her get to know Him better, we’re also promising to be better ourselves. We’ll probably skip church less – heh – and integrate it into our lifestyle more. After all, I never went to Sunday school but at the time, I envied all the kids who did! So I’ll be giving Naomi this experience I never had.
Anyway, she was a very good participant in the whole process. When the Pastor put the water on her head and addressed her, she looked at him square in the face and took in all that he had to say. She didn’t cry or fuss… Well, until he moved no to the next candidate. She chewed at the order of service and left us with paper mush, and when we tried to take it away from her she grumbled and complained. In truth, she was tired and cranky at that time of morning :)
But after a good nap on Daddy’s chest during the sermon, she woke up a happy bug and full of smiles for all who wanted to socialize with her. At 32 weeks, she has just learnt how to be coy. She hides on my chest and peers out at people, then giggles or smiles at them. Cheeky little one!
She has also learnt how to complain. Not good. But I suppose with the good, comes the bad with every single milestone.
