I have a whole bunch of new pictures from the family shoot, and I guess the easy thing to do would be to whack them up and caption them. But that would be predictable and boring, so I figured I’d cheat and use them for a progress report instead! I thought it had literally been ages since I last wrote about Naomi but I guess it’s only really been a month and some since I last wrote about her.
So here are some new things that have happened in the last couple of months:
Everything is new to her at this point so she tries to repeat everything I say. She’s learning at a tremendous rate! She has taken to saying “Pees” when I ask her to say please. She also agrees if you ask her if she loves you, shakes her head when she doesn’t and goes “ooooooh” when she sees something she particularly likes. When you ask her what her name is, she will grin and say “Nae Nae”! And when you ask her who Nae Nae is, she will say “Me!” whilst pointing at herself. Other new words and phrases include “Up”, “Bye”, “Flower”, “Car”, “Rhino” and “Bird”.
Today, Mum showed her a clip of the willies dancing in Giselle, and she started lifting her leg up whilst watching. This is just an example of the funny things she does. A couple of weeks ago, she got really into caring for a baby doll. She kissed it, cuddled it and pretended to feed it milk and put it to bed. She holds it like a baby, not like an object. She’s also started ‘cooking’ at her wooden stove. She’ll stir her pots and pans, and then amble over to me with a spoon in hand to ‘feed’ me. When I pretend to eat and make yummy noises, she’ll amble away satisfied, looking for someone else in the vicinity to feed. She is especially happy when both Mummy and Daddy are in on the game.
Our baby is a water baby! I can’t believe at 14 months she has learnt how to swim?!?! She no longer wants to be in the baby pool wandering around. She wants to paddle and play in the big pool, in her big girl water wings. She’ll walk down the steps and into the pool herself, paddle around the steps and then go back when she wants a rest. She also spends a lot of time swimming between us. What’s next? Triathlon? Lol! Kidding…
Everyone’s been telling us she looks like little Boo from Monsters Inc and we’re pretty amused by this ‘coz after going back and watching snippets of Boo’s character… You know what? She really is Boo! And she loves her monsters too…
She’s Their Pal!
I think Nae’s relationships with both Rosco and Sally have really blossomed over the past two months. She actively plays with Rosco on her own now, picking the ball up and throwing it over for him, and she goes over to pet him quite a bit. Sally used to be a bit more reserved but recently, Sally sprained her paw and we had to take her to the vet. Sally HATES the vet, so whilst she was all shivering and afraid, Nae went up and comforted her by stroking her head gently. As a result, Sally responded with an accepting sniff and since then, she’s not really run away whenever Nae’s walked up to her for a stroke. I can only imagine in time, she’s going to become really attached to Nae… when Nae learns to be really gentle and loving anyway!
She Hugs, Kisses, Cuddles, Loves!
Nae is super loving. I’ve been working pretty hard lately so this morning I slept in her room after I gave her a mid-night feed. Because I missed her so much, I let her sleep beside me after and when she woke up, she kept stroking my face and putting her face against mine. Sometimes she would sit up, and when I asked for a cuddle, she would lie back down on my chest and hug me. Sigh, these are the moments. Kodak, where are you?
Oh my goodness, what is UP with babies and their obsession with In The Night Garden? I let her watch one episode awhile ago and since then, she’s been pretty obsessed. She’ll circle her finger on the palm of her hand when the introduction comes on, and she’ll dance to Makka Pakka’s and the Tombliboos’ songs. She waves whenever she sees Upsy Daisy and says goodbye when they go. If she’s having a bad day, two things are almost immediate fixes: Swimming or In The Night Garden. Sigh.
And that pretty much sums up our Bug at 14 months. She’s a funny, quirky, happy little thing :)
