I have to say despite us being in a mad panic to get the house sorted for Charly’s arrival, we’ve actually managed to make the place fairly festive this year. We never used to make as big an effort but I do think the major difference is there’s a little excitable one toddling around the house and discovering all things, with little “ooooh”s and “ahhhhh”s. It is precious.

We were mega grumpy the evening we decided to decorate the tree, mostly from just being really knackered from coping with the chores and getting the house prepared for the holidays. I had laid out all our (unbreakable) ornaments out on the sofa and Hubba was in the process of getting the lights untangled….

Nae had seen my folks put their tree up so she already understood the concept of decorating. We hardly noticed when she toddled over to the tree and hung her first ornament up on one of the bottom branches. Gleeful at her success, she let out the cutest little “yayyyyy” and started clapping her hands with joy! Our hearts just melted and our tiredness fell away immediately!

she cheered every time she put an ornament on

our little angel tops the tree up with the star

I always tell Hubba we have one of those “Nightmare Before Christmas Trees”

Enjoying some Moscato on the eve of Christmas Eve

my little one helped with cards

Very excited to spend the next few days celebrating with our family and close friends. I hope you have special gatherings planned too.
